Sheepdog Experience Day with Nij Vyas
Educational Visits to Schools
"Never in a million years did I ever think that I could take so many lessons, applicable to everyday life, from such an activity"
Paulo Rio De Janeiro (Brazil)
Since 2010 the Nij Vyas Sheepdog Experience has visited many schools in Leicestershire as well as received visits from schools. The value of hands on and practical education for young children is immeasurable.
"Outdoor education gives depth to the curriculum and makes an important contribution to students’ physical, personal and social well-being". It also lends itself to enhancing the children's imaginative and creative abilities.
Students generally make good progress in outdoor education, both at school and outdoor centres. They develop their physical skills in new and challenging situations as well as exercising important social skills such as teamwork and leadership.
"Students’ attitudes and behaviour during outdoor and adventurous activities and outdoor education activities are good and often exemplary, with mature responses to challenging situations." - OFSTED

Services we provide
Sheepdog Experience - School Visits - from £175
Talks on Dog Behaviour and communication - from £120
We are happy to bring the sheep and dogs into schools with playing fields (1-2 acres). We will liaise with school staff to ensure that we tailor the content to provide an educational and stimulating hands-on learning experience. Where possible, we endeavour to complement the children's lessons e.g. looking at communication or as part of science week.
Our clients
Include schools and colleges, farmers, sheepdog enthusiasts, dog owners, dog trainers, police dog handlers, special schools and clients recovering from illness as part of their therapy/recovery.
What our clients say about us
P.G AGED 9 YEARS
Thanks for coming to Brookside Primary School and giving us a wonderful demonstration of how man communicates with dogs. Your dogs are very obedient and I imagine you can trust them to do the job very well. I liked Skye's demonstration the best, she was very clever when she hid behind us from the sheep. I also liked the other dogs. The sheep were funny when they were being herded as they were moving and eating grass at the same time.
